Just got mine today. Played around with it and I definitely would recommend picking up the usb adapter to go with it. Most likely your on-board audio will not do it justice. It's been stated already, I just wanted to reinforce it. I uploaded a comparison to Vocaroo (which ate the sound quality but whatever) in case anyone was interested. http://vocaroo.com/i/s0wbW5n5qGj1
OmletteThanks for the feedback.
Would you mind telling which motherboard you're using so others (mainly me xD) can use it as a reference?
Mine is still on it's way (sitting at customs atm), and I can't wait to receive it.
OmletteThanks a lot for the detailed information.
My motherboard is older (a z97) sporting the ALC892 instead.
My guess is the experience will be somewhat the same, if not a bit "worse".
OmletteMine works very well plugged into my front panel I/O mic jack with plackback and recording volume set to their highest using the Realtek audio manager. I have an MSI Z97 PC Mate motherboard (Realtek® ALC887) and I'm using it inside a Corsair Carbide-series SPEC-01 case. I'll note that audio was not picked up at all while using the back panel. Thanks for the sound test, and I may try using my USB sound card because I already had one for a laptop.
Timothy DeblitzAwesome to hear! I'll try out both inputs when I get mine.
Sadly mine was snatched up by customs but I'll get it on/before Friday.
Can't wait ^.^
I'll make an update again once I get it, and detail my experience with both ports.
Thanks again to both of you.
OmletteThat sound test was great to hear! It made the differences very clear. Even though the audio quality was degraded by Vocaroo, I could still hear how well the ModMic compares with the studio microphone, and other headphone mic's.
I'll make an update again once I get it, and detail my experience with both ports. Thanks again to both of you.
