I gave my discord group a blind test between the ModMic 4.0 and the Massdrop MiniMic. They liked the MiniMic more.
Jack-in-the-BoxThat is a surprising result. Out of curiosity, what are the two plugging into? I'm not looking to start a Mini-mic vs. ModMic war. We frankly believe our product is better in every regard, and at our higher price it darn well should be. Not that we hate Massdrop, since we continue to work with them, but we honestly feel the Minimic is a great example of why our product looks easy to copy but in practice isn't quite that simple.
Also, any feedback on the build quality between the two? Not something you can blind test for, but we're always interested in hearing customer opinions!

AntlionJoeIt plugs into the back interface of my motherboard in my computer. They thought that (during the blind test) the MiniMic sounded clearer whereas the ModMic sounded a bit more muffled. However, the MiniMic did lack a bit compared to the ModMic when it came to background noise and keyboard feedback.
I use my microphone almost always when talking to friends over voice chat in Discord when playing online games and such.
EDIT: Regarding build quality, I do like the ModMic more due to the magnetic parts and due believe that the overall build for the ModMic is better. Regarding my blind test, I used the ModMic as 1 and the MiniMic as 2. With my sample size being 5 men in their 20's, I switched the audio source back and forth saying "1" and "2" and asking which one their preferred. Afterwards, I used the ModMic for 10 minutes and then switched to the MiniMic for 10 minutes. In the end they preferred the MiniMic to the ModMic. I am not saying that the MiniMic is superior to the ModMic. What I am saying is that my group of friends preferred the MiniMic to the ModMic. There is no conclusive evidence here that says the MiniMic is superior to the ModMic. More testing would have to be done to test the numerous amount of variables (Voice being input into the microphone, listening audience, etc.).
Jack-in-the-BoxGood info, thanks. What I am hearing here is the sensitivity of the mini may be higher than ours, and it probably is picking up either more treble/mid range or less bass. Eg the ModMic is more bass heavy. Maybe.
Results vary based on PC and voice.
I'd be interested to know what happens with our USB adapter in play. If you want one drop our customers service a line and ask for me, I'll send one out. Customerservice@antlionaudio.com
