When removing the modmic from the headphones, does it leave residue or destroy the headset quality in any way? That is my only concern when considering purchasing these.

BoogalooFrom the FAQ (http://www.modmic.com/pages/faq): Q - "Will the sticky foam be hard to remove or leave a residue or mark on my headphones?" A - "Nope. Prying at the clasp’s edge can help start the removal. The foam (with some force) comes off in one piece and leaves little if any residue. Anything left behind is easily cleaned off."

BoogalooIt might mar the surface of wooden headphones, but aside from that I don't see it being a problem for mesh/plastic/metal parts.
If anything it's a bit too easy to remove. Mine fell off the mesh on the K7XX.. :/
The 3M adhesive pad feels a bit like the 3M Command Adhesive tabs that can be pulled to remove.

FuzzThe first thing I plan to replace on the base is the adhesive pad with one that is tackier and will not accidentally fall off my K7xx's.

Im420manI did reposition it a few times the first time while trying to locate a good place to mount it (the pickup needed to be right in front of my mouth, and I had to straighten the mic out,) so it might have weakened the tack a bit.
I've replaced it with the spare pad included by Antlion, and alcohol swabbed down both surfaces this time round, we'll see if she stays stuck..

FuzzPlease let me know how it works out for you as I'm going to be doing this next month. I'd also be interested in the position on the headphone that you place the base. Many thanks!

Im420manThis is how mine is mounted, note the bendy part I straightened out, the plastic there is a bit "chewed up" by the screw down Antlion mounting clasp, but that additional 1 inch of length made all the difference.
The mic went from consistently failing the Windows 7 Mic setup test to suddenly being in the 60% - 80% input volume range at fairly quiet speech volumes.

FuzzAwesome Fuzz. Sweet KB BTW. I like the stealth look of not having the key icon on the individual keys.

Im420manHaha thanks, I've been using blank keycaps for about 7 years now, they've improved my typing speed, forced me to stop looking at the keyboard, because there's nothing to see there, lol.
