I wanted to add my comments with the ModMic - It was awful. It produced noticeable background hiss at all times whereas my 2 Sennheiser headsets did no such thing in the exact same scenario. It was very annoying to those I gamed with. After sending audio files to their support team which "couldn't hear" the issues, I even provided screenshots from Audacity comparing it with 2 other microphones I have in my office. Finally, they sent me a replacement. The replacement sounds so "under water" it can't even be used. I sent them this evidence and at that point they basically told me I was shit out of luck. Just the large difference in the sound produced by 2 microphones was terrible and shows serious lack of QC from them.
I believe my Modmic is the 3.0 (Purcased around a year ago) but both of them are spending their life sitting in their nice zippered cases never to be used.
That's my 2c and why I'd recommend everyone avoid these unless their QC and slow, crappy customer service is better now.

CrooKMaybe it's your computer/source that's the cause...
But there's no way that could be it... YOU could never be the cause.

YakovNot sure. I did try with 2 computers and my laptop. The other mics I tested worked fine. The fact 2 seperate ModMics providing completely different sound indicate a QC issue to me.
My main rig has an X-Fi Titanium HD and it was fed directly into that as were the other headsets.
I bought the ModMic to use with my AD700X . I wish I could have resolved the issue as I prefer these headphones to the "gaming" headsets that I have.
I just ordered one of those CAD GXL2600 mics from a drop so hopefully that will work well for me :)
Just offering my personal experience with the product and company. YMMV

Although I don't think this is my issue since other mics sound fine with my soundcard, I will attempt to dig up a USB soundcard I have. Would be disappointing if a few dollar usb adapter works better than a decent soundcard lol:) Appreciate the link. !
