Hey Joe, had I known this drop was happening I would've delayed my purchase but that's no matter. I received my modmic just today (very quick delivery to AUS thank you). It does seem to pick up a fair amount of background noise even though I purchased the uni-directional unit.
I'd just like to confirm that I have indeed been sent the uni-directional unit as there are no obvious distinctions in the packaging or contents. Aside from ITEM No. GDL-0420 on the invoice.

jimosphere@jimosphere GDL-0420 is indeed the Uni-Directional. If you can, turn the mic gain down a bit and it should make things better. Also be sure the mic icon on the device is pointed towards you :) It's located near the mic tip.

AntlionJoeThanks, everything is fine, sounds good.
I would say that an extra 20mm length on the mic boom wouldn't hurt. You can always bend to shorten it but no amount of bending will make it longer!
