Really useful, but has slight gain issues
Without digital signal boosting (i.e. raising the volume more than the "maximum" on default) they're pretty quiet. Fortunately, after said boosting they sound great. Only wish they came with more magnets, and maybe a slightly more elegant solution for coupling to my headphone cables.

Very quiet microphone
I found the Modmic 5 to be very quiet without boosting in software. It was very disappointing to find that even with the USB adapter that this was practically unusable out of the box. I've bought a Schiit Hel to help with this along with the boosting in software to reduce noise and all that, and at some point without changing any settings it's gone back to being quiet/not as it was. I'm not sure what is at fault here, but it does seem to be the microphone itself. The Schiit Hel is a powered amp, and I would expect it to handle anything like this easily. I have friends who have this product and say that it's just fine, but my experience is vastly different to theirs. I'll probably take this apart and try troubleshooting the issue at some point (my warranty has expired), or try using the electret mics in some project down the line. I would not recommend this product to a friend.

Worse mic quality then you might expect...
Purchased with a pair of HD 6XX to be used as a headset upgrade over my Philips SHP9500s and V-MODA BoomPro combination. The audio was certainly improved, however the mic quality is actually worse but the lack of a 3.5mm jack on the 6XX is the only reason I haven't switched back. Unlike the V-Moda I now have a high pitch whining in the background of my mic regardless of what I change and it simply does not sound as natural as the $30 competitor so for the last year I have felt self-conscious about talking in Discord. The magnetic clip is convenient, however if you purchased this I'm assuming your headphones aren't already wireless so if you use the included wire nylon sleeving then the practically does take a pretty big hit since all the bulk basically remains. But being able to point the mic up is useful for eating but the stiff arm does make it extremely hard to talk while eating as you simply can't just point it away from your mouth so it feels like a parking lot ticket arm going up and down. I am not saying this product is complete garbage, however I would say to do your research on the Modmic Wireless which wasn't out at the time out purchase. However if you wish to create content or use Discord a lot look elsewhere and invest in an actual condenser mic with interface, you will save yourself a lot of headache. I have tried RTX voice and to be honest, I'm not that impressed with the results, it may have helped slightly with the high-pitch whining but it doesn't change the poor audio quality :/

Simply amazing.
Quality all throughout, should have just went with this instead of the mini mic in the first place.

Not compatible on headphones with soft touch plastic
I tried using the ModMic 5 on my Skullcandy Venues, and it did not stick properly to the headphones. The note that is provided in the manual is not shown in the marketing materials, nor the description of the product.

I got the option with all accessories (usb and smartphone adaptors). Mic itself is of superb build quality and will sound decent enough for most applications. Proximity effect kicks in at approximate distance of less than 3cm between mic and my mouth. The usb soundcard sounds good with the aux out, better than the in built soundcard of my 6 year old laptop lol XD It also has a shorter latency effect in comparison. However, its mic in is much softer than that of said laptop; level 75 on my laptop is more than adequate while 100 on the Antlion soundcard is just sufficient. Other online written and video reviews will tell you all you need to know Edit: I forgot to mention that something is pinging around inside the usb adaptor I received. Sounds like a plastic part is loose or something. The mic boom arm is really stiff, requires strength to adjust. Not really feasible to adjust it when worn. Update: using it for a month, I've decided to lower the rating by a star. Firstly, the usb sound card actually sounds bad, which is especially obvious listening through headphones (my initial listening was done through speakers). Treble is harsh, bass is undefined and lacking, volume control is limited (doesn't go soft or loud enough, just like many other cheap sound cards). I sort of cracked the mic arm while bending it, however antlion staff have said that it's covered under warranty. The mic adhesive does not stay attached to my wooden headphones (Thinksound on2). On the bright side, I contacted Antlion about the rattling issue of my previous usb sound card. They sent out a replacement with few questions asked except the most necessary ones. I didn't even have to ship back the faulty one. The quality and responsiveness of service has served as a buffer for this product's star rating in my case. As it is, I'll somewhat recommend this mic as well as it's smartphone adaptor, but not its usb sound card. Post-Update: I opened up the usb soundcard with the rattling sound, there was a loose plastic fragment inside. That aside, there were 2 IC chips on the little circuit board within it. One reads "T93C46A" while the other reads "CM119B" . Here's the link for the specs on the CM119B chip and it isn't impressive: https://www.silicondevice.com/file.upload/images/Gid1485Pdf_CM119B_Datasheet_ver1.00.pdf

I was looking for a good quality microphone for my headphones that I can easily carry with myself and the host system des not really matters. With the USB soundcard, the ModMic 5 fulfilled all my wishes. Even with the customs it worth its price! Highly Recommended!
