I am a great fan of the AntLion ModMic, and bought a 2.0 that I got a lot of love out of for about a year before the wire poked through the mic and pushed out all the mic components... eugh. That's not a problem here though, because they have since changed the capsule for the mic, which eliminates a stress failure of that possibility from happening. And the quality -- especially for the price -- was unparallelled. And no doubt is! And the clasp sits very firmly still on my headset, waiting for the next one.
I think they bundled the two together because both mics have their pros and cons -- the omnidirectional mic has better quality and a greater range of sound, but picks up more ambient noise, of course. Whereas the directional mic has better sound isolation, but slightly less sound quality and sensitivity as a result.
If you're looking to use a quality pair of headphones along with a quality microphone without shelling out lots of cash for sub-par "gaming gear", this is definitely something worth checking out.
