I just ordered one of these...my first mechanical. So newbie question, where should I go to look for keycaps?

On Drop of course! Look out for Tai-Hao, Winmix, Domikey, KPrepublic are also excellent beginning keycap sets :)

Do they need to be MX switch keycaps? Can you recommend any that support backlit kits?

i'm assuming you have something like the gateron/cherry/kailh box switches installed, so all you'd need would be shine-through or pudding caps that fit MX stems. you can try tai-hao caps that have translucent legends or something like the hyperx doubleshot pudding keycaps.
