A wooden keyboard can be the cherry on top in a nice office or at-home setup. This mechanical keyboard kit is a great way to elevate the look of your desktop Read More
Again a whole lot of useless questions about where the wood is sourced and about the hot swap switch mounting system but absolutely NOTHING about the finish of this so-called, Wood Bodied Keyboard.
Is it stained or oiled in any way? Is it finished with any type of "Clear Coat" to seal the wood from stains, moisture and absorption ?
These are the real questions that need to be answered here, in regards to any Wood based keyboard.
There is NO mention of this in this Sale section hence the MassDrop OP better provide something of note here, otherwise lots or potential returns and refunds shall ensue.
Exactly, MassDrop tends to do that a lot, never indicating what type of finish is used on any of their wood based product's here.
Suspect they don't know at all hence why the continued silence and hoping that the buyers will find out for themselves.
A shame really considering they are trying to sell stuff they consider is trustworthy and safe to use. Nothing worse when the keyboard body, starts to change shape and size due to external condition's and the key's end up being affected, when the keyboard is used.
I toured the Gibson plant Memphis about 7 years ago and there gift shop was giving me tips on how to buy things from them to dodge taxes. I'm not surprised they were raided.
Other than that, the tour was extremely disappointing.
What kind of software is needed to program or flash this? GK products are infamous for not having QMK compatibility.
And not being able to use open source firmware like QMK or TMK usually also means the firmware can only be programmed or flashed under proprietary closed-source operating systems...
There obviously is enough space. Both, my MiniVan as well as the Rama Works U80-A (according to the product pictures) have Kailh hotswap sockets and 5 holes per switch socket. And the plateless hotswap DZ60-RGB wit Zealios v2 I'm currently typing this text on, has them, too.
No QMK or Bootmapper is questionable for a board that is "fully programmable" . Wood sourcing and actual wood type should be disclosed.
For $120 though, I am willing, as others are, to take one for the team...
Grabed one, BB, for shits and giggles. Come November I will post real world pics of a tear down.
Can you guys make one of these except It is aluminum because I don't really like the look of wooden and some other people also would probably want an aluminum version
Thats the problem. We went to see if we could solder it but the metal piece connecting to the pcb was absent so we literally couldn't complete the circuit. It was very frustrating.
madcheesepuffWOW! thanks for the heads-up. Oh well.. if missing sockets or anything else messed up, I will take pics for the discussion thread and then look elsewhere....
Hope your replacement is not another PoS and hope mine is okay.
