Don't let that "Bugle Boy logo" on the front mislead you, tubes in the picture are NOT come from Amperex. Those poor-looking original tubes are made by Beijing tube co. Sold some sort of $0.3 - $0.8 per each in China.

I do not like this deception. Massdrop is supposed to be better than this.

I don't think it is a deception. If you read the review I posted you will see it is a capable little amp, especially at $89 ($169 on Amazon). This amp's design seems to set it apart from the run of the mill Chinese stuff. We are not expecting some McIntosh performance here. It does it's job well, but you can draw your own conclusions just because you have never heard of it.

Look, it's $89 here compared to $169 on Amazon. Some NOS tubes will cost you less than $20 on eBay and you are still way ahead. I posted a review of it from a capable audiophile reviewer in this discussion. Draw your own conclusions. As a near field amp with some decent bookshelf speakers even the Chinese tubes sound good. I don't know what you complainers are expecting for under $100. Go buy a Jolida for a$1,000 if you want something shipped with nice tubes.

When a product is labeled using a "known" logo of another (related) company, this is deception. Maybe this amp is decent (the 6moons review is very positive), however putting another brand name on the product in an effort to trick somebody into thinking it's something else is deception. This is a common tactic for chi-fi products dumped onto our markets.
Massdrop is better than this or at least I thought it was.
Enjoy your wonderful amp. I am done here.

I have no idea if this is a deception or they were just trying to be clever. I wish they had left it off since I think it is unattractive. For what it's worth, I never once thought this thing was going to come stocked with vintage Amperex tubes. I doubt many others do as well.
I also don't hold Massdrop up on some pedestal of highest quality. Generally they do a good job, some products are questionable and I think well more than 50% are no bargain especially when shipping is factored in. Every now and then you get something decent for a great price. I think this is one of those times.

Yeah, the logo... The good news is once you get over it the amp is pure joy.

I bought this amp. I am having trouble finding replacement tubes. I do not understand how the model numbers work. Can you point me towards some replacement tubes?

Just read some of the other comments above and you will find discussion on alternate tubes. Thats what I did. Then see what you can find on ebay. Fortunately the alternate tubes are inexpensive for this amp.
