The Aquacy Hei Matau timepiece is backed by rich materials and an even richer history. Called the Hei Matau in honor of the Maori people of New Zealand, it’s built for the rigors of fishermen and businessmen alike. The 1769 moniker refers to explorer James Cook’s voyage of the same year, in which he discovered New Zealand. (It’s even written on the dial in the same font Cook used on his map.) Thanks to an ETA s824-2 automatic movement, the watch has a power reserve of 40 hours. To protect the movement, there’s a stainless steel case and sapphire crystal, contributing to a water resistance of 300 meters. For divers, there’s a helium escape valve and a unidirectional rotating bezel, too.
