if i did not already have the Grace, i would jump on this. Amp only (no DAC) but balanced, so that is very nice. this is a very nice amp and well worth the money. Don't try to compare it to your O2, this is a completely different league...
Sorry for the dumb question, but does this have balanced output? I see the XLR input so I think that means it can take a balanced signal, but wouldn't it need something like XLR out or TRRS? I'm just now learning about balanced amps and also want to replace my Grace M9XX with something balanced :-)
yeah this accepts a balanced source, and i was under the impression that you would use an XLR type adapter in the output plug. someone else feel free to chime in here; i am def not the tech expert on balanced... the thought of the single end 1/4" plug negating the 'balance' due to the common ground crossed my mind, but now i have successfully confused myself. how would you pass the 'balance' to the headphones?
great head-fi review here http://www.head-fi.org/products/arcam-rhead-discrete-true-linear-class-a-analogue-headphone-amplifier/reviews/16584
sorry i cant help more!
No worries man, thanks for the reply. Your confusion mirrors mine: why have balanced inputs with two single ended outputs. I think maybe worth an email to ArCam - I'll report back :-)
thank you for the clarification!
