Like many others, I received my desk recently and was able to assemble it in a few hours, mostly because we took breaks for food and stuff. Having a second person helps a lot, and be sure to follow the instructions when they say don't tighten all the screws immediately!! My thoughts:
Pros: - The all-black mousepad looks amazing, and does show dirt, but that's a consequence of the all-black, not a fault of Arozzi. I love the look and feel of it.
- The box was pretty beat up but luckily the desk was unscathed. There is a very, very small nick in the desk but it's impossible to find unless you're looking for it, and it's covered by the mousepad, so I treat it as non-existent. The box is very well-packed, though I'm surprised the desk didn't come with styrofoam padding between the different pieces of the top; instead, mine had just plastic, which still did a fine job protecting it.
- I assembled mine on the clean, soft carpet of my living room. The surface isn't going to scratch as long as you are careful. It's got a textured plastic feel to it that seems like it'll withstand some normal wear/tear without issue.
- The desk is rock-freaking-solid and feels like it can hold a million pounds (though I wouldn't be bothered to test that claim!!). I'm so happy with how large it is and how much more I can do on my desk compared to the piece of junk I was using before (that only measured 41.5" x 19.75" x 1.25"!!!).
Cons (if you can even call them that):
- The cable management net is MEH, and I wouldn't put power transformers (power bricks) on it as it'll sag. Instead, make use of the hollow cavity where the base attaches to the desk, and velcro/command strip/3M attach them there instead.
- The instructions aren't entirely clear at times, but it isn't hard to figure out. There's also a great YouTube video if there are any questions. Specifically, the instructions skip mentioning where the screws from bag C go, but it's easy to figure out (since C is between B and D) where they screw in. May have just been a typo.
Suggestions:
- Add a steel cover that covers the hollow cavity of the base, and allows one to run cables through the cavity instead of the net. This way, it won't sag over time!!
- There is tons of real-estate underneath the desk. Why not add some cable management covers to help with cable management? Again, this isn't a complaint, but moreso a suggestion to make an awesome desk even better!
Thanks for the great deal, Massdrop!
