AlexrawesomeI dislike the "gaming" label that everything gets as much as anyone else, but the sheer size of this desk is awesome. The fact that it has pre-cut holes for cable management, and support for monitor mounts, as well as a full-desk mousepad has made it a great fit in my lifestyle, which consists of very little gaming and much more productivity/workstation use out of my computer.
Admittedly, my entire machine was built with "gaming" components not because I game, but because I over-engineer things like a $1500 computer build in order to ensure it lasts me several years. Short of purchasing enterprise-grade server hardware, gaming hardware is the better choice for consumers looking for longevity.

ForralWe appreciate your comments. And, sure, a high performance user that is not a "gamer" can get a lot of the same benefits from the design of this desk. @Alexrawesome comment aside--a retread of ones posted below when this was first dropped--this really is a gaming desk. We have hardcore gamers in the company back in Sweden who were very particular about a lot of the details. The mousepad, the cable management, the fact that it had to support three monitors, its load-bearing aspect, etc.

ForralWell, pardon my ignorance but I fail to see a use in a desk covered in a mouse pad over just having a mousepad where my mouse is.... The size of the desk is certainly a selling point however that doesnt really justify the $300 price tag...... As for the holes, well, drills are certainly an option..... I guess this has use for mousepad-less, drill-less folk who don't have an IKEA in town...

ArozziScottMy 5 year old, $50 desk from IKEA supports my 3 monitors so, what's your point?

AlexrawesomeI mean I'm not vehemently defending this desk as the best thing under the sun, but as ArozziScott mentioned it fills a niche market for gamers. Gamers like having huge gamepads so they can ensure the mouse never has any issues. I think the full-desk mousepad makes it look very slick and helps keep the desk surface clean, as well as provide a good, non-slip surface for other desk items (in my case, speakers, keyboard, small office supplies, etc).
The pre-cut holes means you don't have to go buy a drill, and circular drill bit, and deal with cleanup and everything else. Any cheap desk will instantly shatter and crack when you drill through it (anything with formica & wood veneer). I say this having worked at Ikea and own many pieces of IKEA furniture....they aren't meant for longevity, period.
I do think the desk is a bit pricey but again, most "gaming" labeled items tend to be on the higher end of the market. At the end of the day, you are entitled to, and allowed to have, your opinion and, as a result, you can opt to not purchase this desk. There are many options available to you, and hopefully you find one to fit your needs!!

ForralThanks for your support. I have tried to obliquely make a point about shipping costs by quoting how much Ikea charges to ship the Bekant. But please allow me to be less oblique. Shipping is not "free". it is factored into the price you pay one way or the other.
I really did try to buy a Bekant and it really was $130 to ship to my house. And I live only about 40 miles from the IKEA store in Burbank. That means Bekant really would cost me more than buying the Arena on this drop. So my objection is not to people who don't value the features of Arena. They probably don't need them. Fine. They can go buy some anonymous desk at IKEA, fight the crowds etc and save a few bucks on features they don't want.
But I really think that people should be more cautious throwing prices out in their comparison. Having something delivered to your door is very valuable. Especially a 105 pound something. :-)

AlexrawesomeI'd don't see why you'd spend 50 dollars on a desk when 2 crates and few planks of wood would suffice.
We get it dude, you're poor and you don't care how it looks.

ArozziScottThe shipping was a huge aspect of it, and definitely a big selling point! Thanks for being so quick to respond to everyone, @ArozziScott, and know you've made a future customer out of me at least!

AlexrawesomeI would love a link to that $50 IKEA desk that has similar size and flexibility of this desk. Because I can only find one that is a similar size, has a cable management system, and dual legs that are height adjustable and it is over $500. www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59022528/

ForralA gamers niche? You can put “gaming” on anything and sell it as such. Sorry but this product is poorly made and simple. No ”gaming” features even exist here
