I'm part of the current drop, so i'm anxiously waiting for mine. I'm not entirely sure how grommet mounts work in general and with this desk. When mounting a dual monitor setup with a grommet mount, is it still possible to route the cables through the same grommet? I know there are tons of different mounts, i'm just hoping for some people with personal experience.

orlexI'm using the grommet mount on it. Was a bit wobbly at first, but after adjusting the levelers (one in each corner, so two on each giant foot thing) it's rock solid. Each grommet is shaped like an oval with a half circle on top, if that makes sense. So there's plenty of room to run cables and mount monitors.

I took that pic before I re-ran the cabling through the arms. It was kind of a pain but it's very doable. I did have to take a knife and cut like a 2cm slit into the netting underneath to accommodate the massive grommet mount that came with this particular setup.

GaleForceThank you for the help @GaleForceWith the type of mount that you have, does it allow you to place one monitor directly in front of you? I was thinking of going with the gas spring style arm mount so that I can manouver one monitor directly in front and one off to the side in my two monitor setup.

orlexIt really depends on the size of the monitors. It's a Loctek gas spring setup, but since the monitor in the middle is 27" there isn't all that much room to maneuver it directly to the center - it has to be offset to the right of center a bit. Before I installed it, I had the 27" directly in the center of the desk with the two other monitors flanking either side, but as you probably saw in the pic I had to shift everything to the right to accommodate the mount a bit. It worked out well for me, though, since I kept one monitor on its OEM stand (the vertical one) as it's against a wall anyway and I'd never be moving it. Plus given how high (or low) I sit, I wouldn't save any space by mounting it since I pretty much need the bottom of it against the desk for ergonomics. I move the one on the left the most so I can stream video to that screen and watch without sitting at the desk. The one in the center I just adjust up/down and tilt a bit as the day goes on and I want a different angle for my neck.
If you were using 24" monitors you'd probably get a bit more left/right movement range out of them with this particular mount. Or you can look into their higher-end mounts (stainless finish rather than black), but those start at around $250-300 rather than the $100 I was able to get the dual heavy mount.
Here's the back of the setup (again, before I ran the cables all the way through both pieces of both arms). Should give you a better idea of how much room there is to manipulate the setup, and most gas spring mounts are going to be the same (lots of room to move it around, but a 2-monitor mount with one of the monitors being exactly center is tough). You might be better off with a triple mount, but those also get pricey:
