This knife definitely takes some getting used to in the hand. I love the design and the build quality. I had one small issue with it though. When trying to close the knife, the shape of the handle places the closest part of the blade far from my finger, making it a bugger to close with one hand until I had practiced. It's hard to explain but I think you'd know what I mean if you had one in your hand. My fingers are longer than average and very agile, so for those with smaller hands this might actually be a deal breaker. My experience other than those first several times closing it and getting used to it, was stellar. I love this knife and it is my favorite one for style by far, but a few others are a little better for practical use. The ring is definitely more than just a nice touch, though. I wish more of my knives had them. It makes pocket removal so much more pleasant.
