For a little more money one can buy an M390 version "Ravine." $180 however is not a bad price for what you're getting from DROP. And no, I'm not selling my ARKTIKA and Pretorian! Most of Medford's are D2, a much cheaper steel than s35vn, and certainly much cheaper than M390. but D2 happens to be a great, high performance steel - don't cut yourselves with it! You can spend a little more and get other steels from Medford. He thinks it's a waste of money. You can also bet that when the origins are not specified, they are from the Orient.

With a blade as thick as the DROP sample, I would not worry about breakage in s35vn OR....D2. Of course, speaking about robust, macho and over the top, nothing out there compares to the COBRA Carillo knife, pictured just above and below. The other slab side is OD G10.
