To guess where the Osprey from Artisan Cutlery gets its name, you only need to look at its large modified-sheepsfoot blade. Shaped like a huge claw (which the fish-eating bird uses to devour its prey), the blade makes quick work of slicing tasks with little effort Read More

Plenty of sellers with near-priced versions that you can have in your hands in a couple of days.... oh Massdrop where art thou? [Found the "cruve" black/gray version cheaper on eBay AFTER I ordered it here. Thankfully, Massd.... Drop allowed me to cancel.]
I have this knife and I like it a lot.
A good deal of what I use a pocket knife for is slicing open boxes along the tape line. The heavier blade on this makes this work easy. It's also good for opening envelopes and pouch type packages. Basically, EDC type cutting.
I think it would also be good for cutting up food in the field. Again, the weight of the blade seems like it would be an asset here. Especially cutting through hard foods, like crusty bread, or carrots, etc.
One complaint I have, however, is with the clip. It's awful.
While it worked well, I snagged it on something and it bent outward very, very easily. It now sticks out at such an angle, that I can't now use the knife unless I remove it.
The clip is made out of the wrong kind of steel. It's relatively thin, and flexible and pliable. It will work fine as a clip if you never snag it, but if you do, it will bend outward very easily, and it will spring right back to that deformed position when you try to bend it flat again.
I own dozens of pocket knives, and I have yet to experience a clip that deforms this easily.
Any ideas on where to get a third party replacement clip?
I don't know if I am going to have anything to do with Droop anymore. They send me and email and then say I must sign in to see a price or respond to a comment. Guys, it's not worth it. The prices have ceased to be buyer friendly and now the behavior of the whole site is losing any semblance of user friendliness. Even Outlook keeps me signed in.
14themoneyWeird,, I have no trouble staying logged in on the app, the mobile site, or the site on my pc.
Maybe your cookie settings?
But yeah, finding deals worth the wait is like a needle in a haystack lately 🙄
Kavik...and the light goes on. My current iteration of CCleaner runs after I close my browser. I am sure that it wipes the cookie out. Thank you. Hey, Jonas. My bud has figured this one out. My bad. Please forgive me.
So what is so special about this knife that would make me want to wait over a month to receive it when it appears that I can get basically the same knife at a place like blade hq for 2 dollars more and get it probably in 3 days....
loki993Nothing.
Order from the other place if you can find a matching (or close enough) price.
A lot of the "deals" around here lately are nothing special, and not worth waiting for
The “Curve” (or “Cruve”, as incorrectly spelled below in the options) is 100% confusing because all of the knives pictured - whether labeled “Flat” or “Curved” appear to have identical outline shapes, except for the black and zebra-colored handles that do have rounded handles.
When describing a curved handle, it is usually referring to the edge/perimeter, rather than the “field” profile of the side panels.
Could someone please clarify this confusing description? It may be as easy as a correction stating the handles have either flat or rounded sides rather than curved. Thanks!
Was this question worth your time? If not, I apologize for wasting your time and my only excuse is that my late mother was a spelling/grammar nazi.
MaximumMarkYou hit the nail on the head , the G10 is either flat ,milled flush , or rounded . This is another area where more extensive photography ( a view of the edge or blade centering) would eliminate confusion and illustrate the actual options. I know these aren't the big money knives but they have sold close to 300 ,I wonder how many people have passed rather than gamble on what they're getting.
MaximumMarkI think that there is a good possibility that my father and your mother went to the same school.
If life throws us cruve balls, I think that Drop is throwing spit balls.
"To guess where the Osprey from Artisan Cutlery gets its name, you only need to look at its large modified-sheepsfoot blade. SylentKnightCopper version was on sale at smoky mountain for $40 with free shipping. I picked one up and have been carrying it for one day. The knife is ridiculous, imbalanced, and heavy. But I’m enjoying it. A pocket cleaver this heavy isn’t practical for much but it looks great and is really fun to fidget with.
I can get a Lamson cleaver that will go thru bone for this kind of money. I know. I know. It won't fit into my pocket. Oh. I know. I'll wear it as a neck cleaver. (I'd hate to trip on it.)
The description of this knife says it's a great slicer. Flat ground, and not full. A tall blade. A thick blade, 0.15". Does this really sound like a great slicer to anyone?
Bought this elsewhere, so can't review, but I love this knife. Have had it in my pocket for almost 3 weeks straight, and it's perfect for my EDC needs, which are 90% fidgeting and 10% opening packages and breaking down cardboard. It fires strong but slow (due to heavy blade) and is the epitome of "drop shut" (also due to heavy blade). But my favorite part is the deep-carry clip, because a 6oz folding cleaver has no business riding as low in the pocket as this does :-)
