Product Description
Named for Tony “The Ant” Spilotro, an enforcer for the Chicago Outfit back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, this wallet is every bit as tough. It’s made by one Windy City company, Ashland Leather, using materials from another Read More
Had mine for 8 weeks or so now. One word about this drop (well, okay, actually two....)
BUY IT!
Mine has been used everyday and it still looks brand new ....... These are NICE!
Man - these are beautiful.....
EXCELLENT!!! Beautiful wallet, just like it is/was described.... This is a very nice piece, the leather is smooth and looks great. The size of Tony's is just a little bigger than Bugs', just what I was hoping for. When closed, the bill compartment is a perfect fit, wraps nicely around the whole wallet - when opened, if parts away just right so that I can reach in a grab a wad of bills. I would suggest that at least 10 bills would fit, no problem. The size for the bills, US money is a perfect fit. Foreign bills, the larger notes would most likely have to be folded. I keep two card (CC, license, etc) in each inside slot, and they are a little tight right now, but just like Bugs' wallet, the leather will stretch just enough to hold every nice and secure in about a week or two. (I got a Shell #8)
I keep telling myself I don't need more leather wallets but yet here I am purchasing a Garnet shell cordovan one. Anyone have any pictures of its patina over the years?
ZilventMan - I agree.....
I'm a sucker for these as well as the military style watch straps from DaLuca. Quality stuff.... geez, I wish that they'd take a break on us though.... I've got more decent wallets and straps than most folks would need in a lifetime!!
I got the Bugs Moran a few weeks ago when it was up and it's great. I'm looking forward to getting this one. The Shell Cordovan is beautiful - I did not think I would like #8, but after just a few weeks, it looks great. I'll bet Tony looks just as good after a few also.
LSNadonHonestly, it's not a bad thing to have a couple nice wallets. Though every time I upgrade, I end up giving my old ones to my brother or dad. At the very least, they go to good homes to be used.
Its quite expensive for a wallet but it is shell so it makes sense. But just like with anything you get what you pay for.
I would love to get in on this drop, because that truly is a fantastic price, but alas, 'tis the season for overwhelming debt, and,

at least in my case... unemployment!
With that out of the way, I do have to say that Ashland makes an incredibly good product. I'm beyond pleased with my acquisition from one of their previous drops.
.... And so is my little buddy, Gemma.
Anyone know what the wallet is on the top of the page? I'm looking for the two tone interior look. The closest one I've seen is the Amaretto, but it doesn't really give a good shot of the reverse interior. Thanks!
Thanks, I'm thinking it's the Amaretto one myself, since the #8 has a bit more of a stain pattern to them. I like the Amaretto color, but the reverse stain of the #8. It's hard to decide lol!
Edit: Went for the Amaretto, thanks!
ooiman92Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Personally I like either the Amaretto or Garnet since they should patina beautifully. Just debating on which color to go with since they are both really nice.
Ashland wallet is on my wish list. Planning to use front pocket. Does the Bugs Moran carry smaller? 1/4" doesn't seem like much and Tony the Ant is the model I think I would prefer.
bacmapeiI originally wanted Tony the Ant but ended up grabbing the Bugs Moran because Tony was unavailable in the color I wanted at the time. I can't really comment on front pocket use because I wear women's pants and most days it's exciting to have any pockets at all. I carry in my back pocket and I don't find it uncomfortable or too noticeable.
I don't really miss the cash pocket, but others might. Folded up bills, receipts, and multiple cards can fit in the interior pockets. They have enough give over time that I've been able to fit everything I need: 6+ cards, a "wallet ninja", a few business cards, some folded up cash, receipts, notes, an occasional coin or two... at worst it looks a bit overstuffed, but that's only happened twice over the course of a year.
It really boils down to this: I'd go for Tony over Bugs if you're the kind of person who needs to carry crisp, clean bills.
Honestly, I'm currently trying to convince myself I don't need to grab the Tony from this drop. You really can't go wrong with these wallets and this is a fantastic price given the materials and the guys at Ashland are equally fantastic to work with.
I'll include some photos of my Bugs Moran below!

Check out this patina shot on the company's instagram. I find these live photos are much more helpful than the studio photos.
