You can pay less and get a better functioning, more powerful and better sounding player. No software updates are available for this and haven't been for a long time.

AudioJetCowon Plenue M2, FiiO X5III, Cayin I5 all piss all over A&K (not just this model ) at lower prices with regular updates. FiiO X5III does require a lot of love but sounds astonishing. Of the 3 I've mentioned Cowon is the most complete and possibly the best sounding and hitch free. I own all players mentioned as well as AK Jr and AK 70 and I can tell you I would not spend another penny on A & K. That brand literaly does not have customer service, nor any care for their customers. Example, from day 1 AK 70 was released with non functioning EQ and all these years later never received update for a non functioning EQ.

SoundzHave you ever used the sp1000? I am beyond positive that none of the players that you mentioned above come close to it in build or sound quality. Not to mention the UI.

SoundzYes I own one after playing the upgrade game I finally gave in and could not be happier. It sounds great I use it when I travel with my campfire Solaris or noble Khan. Beat sound I have heard while on the go. It still can't beat my speaker setup though maybe one day.
