Why would anyone buy this when the new FiiO X5 3rd gen is way cheaper adn runs an Android OS?

NeddogeIts function is shit, if you fill it up with a ton of MP3s its impossible to navigate. Im interested in one with a touch screen.

RochambeauxI was considering the AK100 / wasn't really aware of the 3rd gen FiiO X5 coming out until you posted this.
Just ordered the x5 in titanium and should receive it in a week or so. So thanks for your comment :)
Specs are amazing, but since it's so new there aren't almost any reviews out there so I'm not sure I did the right thing here.

RochambeauxThe AK is available in the U.S. while the FiiO X5 3rd Gen can only be had through select importers.
And while the promise of the FiiO X5 III is there, the firmware won't be winning any awards. Just ask FiiO X7 owners. And that isn't something that FiiO can't fix someday, but they haven't been able to do so over the time the X7 has been out.

RochambeauxSorry, no. I have been waiting for the FiiO X5 III since it was announced. Held off on the Cayin i5 in anticipatio. I HAVE owned various FiiOs in the past though. I didn't promote the AK in my response but I didn't put it down either. People like what they like. Some like Porches and some like mustangs. If people want something else I'm not going to disparage their choice. I do very much enjoy hearing about their experiences though as it helps shape how I make my future purchasing decisions. I am curious why you are so worked up about this thread when you are not interested in the product. This isn't going to hurt X5 sales. I currently own iBasso dx90, Onkyo DPX1, a few FiiOs. If there is one thing about this market it is constantly chasing the next endorphi rush.

rmillerxAs someone who owns the dx90 and the Onkyo dpx1, do you feel like it is an upgrade to the dx90? does sound similar sonically or better to your ears? I need to get a new dap eventually the dx90 has been great but would like to have the option to stream tidal and what not on the dpx1 or pioneer dap

WhiskeyJacksI do like the Onkyo's sound for Single-ended. My iems hiss too much on balanced though. The dpx1 does play mqa files which is nice. For me, the battery life is a lot better on the dx90. And the dx90 can work as an external DAC where the onkyo cannot.

WhiskeyJacksIf I were to buy now, would only look at pioneer 300 model, as it is the onkyo dpx1 but with the connectors fixed.

TommyChaFiio X5iii is not as good sounding as specs. A few of my friends were at a meet and they auditioned it and compared to Aune m1s the later has better sound.
