Update!!! After a very pleasant conversation with Ava at customer support, I'm satisfied with the outcome.
I was given the option to return the light for a full refund, or: Keep the light, have a partial refund & $5 credit. I explained that because I'd paid VAT as a UK customer, both of those options would leave me out of pocket. After a few emails, Ava agreed that because I was an international customer, I could keep the light (which is actually very good for its size) and issued a full refund for the light. A satisfied customer here!
