You'll only need a headphone amp if the headphones are mid to high impedance. These have 12 ohm impedance which is pretty damn low, which means if you're running it through a headphone amp you might actually blow them. Their max volume and fidelity doesn't require much power, i.e. being tailored to mobile use. You need an amp if you're trying to push something ~70 and above, because their components just flat out require more power or a more even distribution of power to produce the sound they're built to put out.
