Having used both these and the Brainwavz I can say I prefer the Brainwavz.

They significantly alter the sound signature, less bassy for the most part, but the out of this world comfort is worth it IMO.

I ordered these because I've had my AT's for a few years, and the black stuff does start to flake off. I bought the AKG K7XX phones here, because I wanted some open backs, But I like the sound of my AT's better. The AKG's seem overly boosted in the lows and highs, to the point where I have to roll upper frequencies off some. More comfortable for longer wearing, though. The headband pad on the AT's has flaked more than the earpads. In my home studio, I trust the sound of the Audio Technica AT-M50 for reference more than these particular AKG K7XX, And I've always been an AKG fanboy.
