How are these any different from the Shure HPAEC940 Replacement Velour Ear Pads (which also fit the ATH-M50x cans) that are $17.95 shipped free with Prime on Amazon?

How well do those Shure pads fit? I read they were a little loose

Ear pads have a larger effect on sound signature than you'd think. These pads are made specifically for these headphones, so they will sounds closer to what AudioTechnnica intended. For better or for worse.

I bought the highly recommended Shure HPAEC840 replacement pads for my M50s a few months ago. They are comfortable and yes, they fit. Yes, they fit loosely. A baby could pull it off the can without blinking. I got in on this drop because I hope these fit better (and I like velour).

I have the Shure HPAEC840 on my ATH-M50. They make the headphones much more comfortable but the material that covers the drivers themselves is very thin causing the sound to be more sparkly than usual. Had to insert old tshirt cloth cuts into it. Sounds perfect now.
