in the future im gonna buy hd800s and will need a closed set to compliment them. i prefer darker mid forward sound like 650s and found k7xxs a bit harsh and had to damp them with a couple ply of toilet paper (ordering a garage project horizon so that might tame them). ive heard "bright" used to describe a few of the headsets in this drop and i want to run away. but im still tempted. which of these would be considered the darkest?
RuRRuRi want the closest thing to 650s but better. maybe a little brighter. definitely not super dark. 650s are far from harsh so i figured 800 wouldnt take me into that territory but somewhere in between.
astrorefluxwhoops! Accidently replied to the wrong comment on my end about the pad comfort thing.
But to not totally redact what I said and give you an idea where to head, the darkest and widest i've achieved within the audio technica line was the w5000 with eikon suede pads. I'd imagine either the a1000z or a2000z would be the closest to achieving that, but I can't say how that would actually compare to the HD650.
IllogicalOrderz reviews, during his resounding endorsement of both headphones, made it sound like they were on the verge of being harsh. im burning a hole cause black friday but maybe ath isnt for me. along with sound sig, imaging is everything to me. people talked about the soundstage of k7xx which made me buy them (before 650) and i wasnt feeling it. as soon as i heard the 650s i was like yo f- soundstage, imaging is everything. and those upper mids, where you hear rihannas vocal chords vibrating mmmm. theres so much gear and conflicting info out there and i have adhd. wat do? i only want to buy one of these cause they on sale
RuRRuRyeah after further research the lcd2c seem more up my alley. there has been mention of an 8k peak though. also planars tend to have weaker imaging no?
astrorefluxPersonally I don't think anything sounds exactly the same but better in every way, but as taz1811 mentioned, as of now people seem to view the Elex as the closest improvement
