I have the A1000Z and my advice is if you are a weeaboo join the drop without giving it a second thought. Female vocals sound incresible on these.
The only real downside is cables aren't detachable

FrostyPhaha, very tempting. That is why I want the ad2000x. For the female vocals are exactly why I want it.

maheePeople who are obsessed with anime or japanese culture to a extent that denied or disrespect there own. But usually anime fan calling themselves weeaboos are just being humble. Real brain washed weebs will certainly not admit they are weebs. XD

FrostyPI have the original AD2000 and they're still up some of my favorite headphones ever, even after trying a large amount of high-end headphones over the past few years. I love the forward midrange and agree it's a great fit for female vocals. I've spent time trying out the A2000Z and they pick up the Audio-Technica house sound I was looking for right where the AD2000 left off.
Basically, I feel if the high-end Audio Technica headphones are for you, they're REALLY for you -- if that makes sense.
I may also be a weeaboo...

Matt.Thaha nice! I have the original AD2000 as well and it's quite a unique sound. I also agree that the A1000Z/2000Z is like the closed back versions of these, not exactly the same sound, but it excels in much of the same things.

nick_t@nick_t sorry for the late response, not sure how I missed the notification. I currently own the A1000Z and the AD2000. I owned a 2000Z but no longer do because I prefer the A1000Z to it. Comparing to the AD2000, well I think the vocals on the AD2000 is more magical and resolution is be better as well but it is lacking on the bass end. The A1000Z on the other hand has quite a nice bass while still retaining the airy upper mid focused sound, so it's more balanced and may be more suited depending on what kind of music you listen to. Keep in mind that one is closed and one is open.

EinTheVarianceIts alright. How do you find the comfort of the AD2000X ? I have tried the AD500X and by my expectation they do not sound great to my ears most probably after trying lots of high end cans. They really pair well with Fiio Q1 and they do sound great. So I was wondering how is it like for you for the AD2000X. Do you use amp/dac on your laptop and phone despite having 40 ohms only.

nick_tI don't own the AD2000X so can't say, it's quite different from the AD2000 from what I've seen. I did own an AD900X previously, but wasn't really impressed with it. It wasn't bad, but it didn't have any of the magic the higher end series have. As far as driving them go, yea, I pretty much use the liquid carbon X, a Fiio K5, or straight out of a DAP, so can't really comment on sound out of a laptop or phone.

EinTheVarianceWell you could always give a try. The AD500X is not bad with the Q1. After trying something like Stax L700 is hard to go back to lower end cans
