Folks this is a good deal, it normally sells for much more, I got one at buydig for $120. Very nice, open, airy, transparent, organic sound. Jump on it!!
ukmichaeldavidDo you have any other headphones, and if so, which ones. My question is basically what is your frame of reference when you say jump on it. Are you comparing it to other $100 or $150 or $200 cans?
dukeincleveSure, see list below. I know totally nuts, but I can say I love each and every one below. I find the audio technica ad and adx series truly unique sounding. Heck you could get it from amazon or a shop and If you like it, then return it and buy from massdrop to save the $20. So compared to the next one up in the range the 1000, this one the 90p is the value leader. The 1000 dies not sound 3 times better.

MY WIFE SAYS I HAVE AN AUDIO ADDICTION, CAN'T IMAGINE WHY....
ukmichaeldavidSo a simple answer is compared to the 1000x it is a steal, yes the 1000x sounds a little better but not 3 times the price better. It holds its own against other headphones in the 100-300 range. I like it as much as the hd6xx and he6xx which I also have and the he560, they are different types of apples, not directly comparable in my opinion. Gosh headphones are kinda like speakers and are so personal.. best to buy with full return and then find the cheapest place and keep if you like them.
Solderboy23Funny comment. But I like the idea of taking pictures of my vast collection. I had not thought of doing that! so thanks for the good suggestion! I will endeavour to do that and share. For me as much as I love speakers, nothing quite matches the intimacy of headphones. For those of you who are addicted like me and can't blow cash all at once, there are several sites that do 0% for headphones, sweetwater, headphones.com, and others... Or get a 0% card and buy from massdrop, I have done that too. Bottom line, life is short, so spend on something that you can use daily. I use cans at work daily as my job permits that. I then do listening at home each night for 2-3 hours. That lets me justify the substantial investment. By the way you can save some cash on AKG headphones by going to thomann usa website, they ship from germany, with 3 year warranty. I got the AKG k712 pro for about $200...
ukmichaeldavidIs there a certain selection from the pics that you want to know about? Because naming and typing out all of the makes and models I own will literally take me an hour to write out lol
Solderboy23Yes everytime I get a package at work, they are like "another pair of headphones or a headphone amp?"... but it is just so exciting listening to a new pair and rotating them. I promised myself I am done for 2019... we'll see if I can keep to that... I did just get the loxjie p20 tube amp with balanced connections, $100 from amazon..
ukmichaeldavidI just read, you have a great collection of amp and headphones. I am in a decision to buy a new headphone for gaming only. Already ordered the p20, and after many many readings got 2 winners. Hd4xx vs Akg 712pro. I already tried the Hd4xx with p20 and was amaizing(only balanced with dac)
Have you ever paired your Akg 712 with the p20. What do you thin is it better then the 4xx plannar. I am afraid there is not enough power for unbalanced mode, to heare those hiden bass for this hard to drive headphone.
My main goal is wide rumbling soundstage pairnig with a precision.
