I own an at-pha100 myself and have had it for a bit over two years. I'm hard of hearing and use it whenever I need sound, from videos to music, movies and beyond. Battery life is great, I can fine tune the sound levels to perfection to accommodate my hearing loss without blowing what hearing I have left. The AT-PHA100 makes everything sing by comparison to anything I've tried, the clarity of sound is incredible. They'll make anything sound better, so even cheap junky earbuds will sound much better, though of course, you can only polish a turd so much. What I like most about them being how they bring out the best qualities of any headphone you pair them with, which is handy being that I have a wide collection of headphones ranging in price and quality, from Audio Technica M50x's to Bose Quiet Comfort 25's, to Sennheiser's HD 598's just to name a few. The placement of the volume nob being in the middle of the unit can be a bit cumbersome, but I've never run into much trouble with it. At worst it's a mild hindrance until you get used to it, but I've never had an issue with the amp otherwise, and I've practically abused these over the two years I've had them. I'd also like to clear up a misconception or two, seeing as it looks like massdrop made some errors in producing this page. The page mentions that the DAC is originally $250 on sale for $280...which isn't right. This product has an msrp of $550. I got this for $500 years ago and it was very much worth the price, $280 is a steal imo. The specs also fail to mention that these work on Windows 10. They very much do, I've never run into an issue while using them on Windows 10 since I was forced by microsoft to upgrade last year.

OldmanJablesDid you have to download any drivers for Windows 10?? No balanced output?? Seems to me it would have this at this price point.

OldmanJablesin all fairness, this is a high end piece. Basically, it's a copy of a Mark Levinson ML-1 preamp that fits in your palm. The OpAmp's are copies of the line stage circuit designed by John Curl for ML. While true quality costs, you do get what you pay for here. If you want another tired version of a JRC 5532 five cent part, look elsewhere...
