I own ATH-CKR90. The stock cable is suck which is the same as this ATH-CKR100. I do recommend to get a new cable.

seth_kongI own the CKR90 as well but still have stock cables. Do you have any cable recommendations?

CuveliaI had considered audiotechnica cable HDC213A/1.2, but it was too expensive, $120. I then go with Earmax cable, $40, I like it. A significant improvement that you can tell even with bind test. There are several other cables in eBay or Amazon. I think any cable will be better than the stock one. I saw Oyaide cable for CKR series which should also be nice.

seth_kongHey there. Wondering how you like the CKR90, and if you've heard the CKR100s to compare. There are barely any reviews of these IEMs anywhere.

mowgli-kunI have never tried CKR100, and CKR90 is the only IEM I own at the moment. Although I have almost 10 full-size headphones, I have no experience with many IEM, so it is hard for me to say. CKR 90 has the sound signature of ATH, if I compare to my old ATH-IEM (I forget the item code) and ATH-DSR7BT, quite bassy to my ears. If you like bass, you will love it. Before changing a new cable, I actually regretted buying CKR90. The high was so dried; it was like not having enough power to drive the higher frequency driver (CKR90 and CKR100 have 2 drivers) However, after getting a new cable, I love them very much. The high is a lot clearer. CHR90 sound smoother and more energetic. Earmax-cable provides a sweeter sound ( I am not sure if it is a correct term, but it is not warmer). Bass is a little less pronounced (in a good way for me). You may get a different sound with different cable, so I cannot comment on that. I think CKR90 has decent drivers, but their stock cable is just suck, and ATH may want you to buy thier upgrade cable, but you have other choices. PS: I bought CKR90 for traveling and due to the impression with my old ATH-IEM which can last for 7-8 years. Their cable was broken, so I chose CKR90 because they have detachable cable. The cans of CKR90 are metal with elegant and solid quality build. I personally like the quality of ATH products. I think they will be able to last for more than 10 years without a problem with broken cable.

seth_kongI know it's been a while since you posted this, but I wanted to thank you for the cable advice! I ordered an Earmax cable for my CKR90 because the stock cable is just so terrible. I'm not that happy with the sound, so we'll see how things turn out when the cable arrives.
