So since I will not be able to test run these before I purchase them, I am asking to see how the Massdrop + Universal, Nobel X and the LS-300is all around this pricing best for my need... 1) on portable device (NW-ZX100) only, I prefer over the ear headphones at home 2) preference of music - classical (mainly violin and symphonies) and some JPops 3) use them during daily commute in public transportation (buses and subway), I use over the ear NC headphones when I am having my plane ride I some time feel that unlike using a DAC, Amp and listen in a quiet room, I only use the IEM on my portable device which isn't top notch, I am listening in a kind of noise environment... so is the quality of the IEM even make that much difference? Will a cheap one work as well since I am not listening in a quiet environment anyway? I will post this under the other 2 IEM I am interested as well. Any advise will help!

The_DentistNot worth it if you're not doing any critical listening with an IEM...which is dumb anyway. Leave it to the big, open cans to do the serious listening. My advise is to get something with a sound signature you like (which is admittedly difficult when you cant try all 3 models). All the models you listed have a bass emphasis (which isnt good for classical). Since you listen to violin I honestly think they would not be suited. Neutral or a japanese neutral (slight V-Shape with upper midrange emphasis) would suit your needs better.
Among the 3 I would rate the MD+ the highest. Take a look at Final Audio's offerings - their new E5000 model would be great for classical despite its warm tone.

torankuThanks for the reply. That's how I feel, any critical listening I will leave it to over the ear phones in my quiet man cave. Have young kids, so can't use speakers at this phase of life. I do have Massdrop x MEE Audio Pinnacle PX IEM already and I think that will suit my needs for now for portable listening. Save up some money and not going for impulse buying this time! When I am on the road with portable player, I just feel that I can't tell the details anyway...

The_DentistGood choice. The MEE PX should serve you well anyway. IEMs can get real expensive for a marginally better sound

The_DentistI would suggest trying some cheap Chi-fi IEMs first and see what works for you. I am of the opinion of both spending good money for what you really like AND finding something fun and cheap. I really liked my Final Audio E2000s that are still my favorite sub $100 IEMs(and I have Tin T2s), until my girlfriend lost them on a trip. I'd be perfectly happy with those commuting everyday(if I commuted). I REALLY like my Moondrop Kanas Pros. More than the Tanchjim Oxygens. I bought them after I realized I don't like wearing headphones on planes because I sleep upright and even the lightest cans will put strain on my neck. So my Audio Technica a1000z stay at home. Even tho I wanted to pimp those bad boys on the plane...lol. But the Kanas Pro is likely my endgame for IEMs. And I'd gladly spend the near $200 without hesitation.

torankuForm factor is completely independent of sound quality. My my best sounding IEMs, Etymōtic Research ER4XR, as well as my best sounding earbuds, Shozy BK, both have better sound quality than my best sounding headphone, Sennheiser HD650.

The_DentistI rather love the Nobel X. It's light weight, fits my ear well, and has a superb neutral tone to my ears. Changing to Comply tips did help me get better seal, but everyone's ears are different.
