Alright, so I got these and I gotta say that the construction is great. It feels solid and I definitely feel like they don't make 'em like this anymore.
With that said, I have to say that I don't particularly like the sound quality. As a point of reference, I've had some Sony MDRXB500's since 2011 and as far as "tight bass" goes, it has nothing on the MDR's. I listen to a lot of metal, electronic, rap, reggaeton and orchestra-type music and if you've bought these to just listen to music, you'll notice that these headphones, staying true to the DJ bit in its description, handles electronic music well. However, stuff like Gojira, Mastadon and Meshuggah will have its bottom-end mucking around with everything else.
I also do some recording in my down time and I have to admit that these headphones are a lot better at monitoring than the MDR's (again, staying true to form).
Overall, these are some pretty good headphones for the demographic it's targeting.
