from what people have told me, the sound quality is better since I’ve been using it in comparison to the mic on the webcam. It does require a battery to work, but I have left it turned overnight many times without any issues. The cable is spiraled and works great, but I use an extension headphone cable to have it reach my laptop. Just make sure that your computer has a microphone port or you’ll need a USB adapter. Could be used on a camera nicely with the camera adapter.
