I've got no previous experience with B-Stock models. Aren't these models send back by the customer because they didn't like them or something was wrong? Or are they simply models they couldn't sell because of damaged packages?
I'm a little worried about receiving a damaged or worn headphone. Even though they're "Extensively tested and cleaned". However far that may go for Audio-Technica.
Anyone who can tell me more about this?
what more can they say (or can we want) but:
"B-stock models from Audio-Technica are extensively checked and tested, and any headphones showing wear are removed from resale. They're extensively cleaned with 91-percent isopropyl alcohol and Windex, with any signs of wear being replaced. Units are only sold if they resemble like-new condition. Finally, the Bluetooth is tested with phones to make sure it works properly."
B-Stock results from customer unsatisfied returns from dealers that accept returns. At Audio-Technica we do not allow service by dealers or anyone outside of our factory center in Stow, OH.
All product returns feed back to our OH facility this gives us the opportunity to identify issues with production products early and quickly. Units that may have been returned under little white lies "it did not work", or units where someone just simply did not care for them, user errors, whatever, they are factory refurbished in our QC department in Stow, OH.
They are thoroughly Inspected, destroyed if not presenting as new product. They are then cleaned, fully charged, tested for bluetooth connection and operation then re-boxed in a plain white carton, with all the accessories, manuals and full warranty direct from Audio-Technica.
I would say you would be unable to distinguish a new unit from our refurbished product with the exception of the packaging.
Thank you for the explanation. Will be way easier deciding now.
Just received these in the mail, and while they appear in good condition and do work, they smell strongly of cigarette smoke. It's a little disconcerting that this isn't something that was noticed. How do I go about getting a replacement?
