Really not a fan of these speakers. I was extremely disappointed with the sound quality. For the money and sound, I personally prefer the Klipsch 2.1 by a mile. Granted these look better in my opinion.
SubhunterWhile I see your point (2.0 vs. 2.1), the value proposition really comes into play. Even with a subwoofer, these would not sound substantially better than the Klipsch. I am not a Klipsch fanboy btw, as I have Vanatoo t0 speakers. I've just had a ton of different speakers (I know, it's a problem), and these were the biggest letdown.
jfox8Yeah, I hear ya... The Klipsch are probably a better value, especially since you also get a sub, although I'm not sure if I've ever heard them myself since it would have likely have been quite a while. Could always be subjective too.
Personally, I prefer my 1st gen A2's over my ribbon studio monitors when it comes to enjoying music... The ribbon monitors aren't as flatering or ''fun'', even when mixing in the same matching subwoofer. If I want oodles of flat detail, I'll rock the monitors instead. I like being able to mix in or even not use a sub... got headphones if I want more intimacy or bass without bothering anyone late at night too. Working at home has it's positives... there's no way I could bring all my audio gear options to work lol...
I am well aware of your ''problem''... I've caught it too... I call it the ''GAS'' syndrome: Gear Aquisition Syndrome. I've got a bad case of GAS... I've had GAS for a good 20 years.... Drums, headphones and speakers are my issue... It's hard to even keep count at this point... I must have like thousands of watts of audio in the house lol. I thought I had released all my GAS and had gotten better at one point, then covid hit lol...
jfox8Got the Vanatoo zeros finally - mostly due to my WFH desktop space restrictions... A/B'ing against the A2's and it's night and day on every level. You were right. Thank you. The Vanatoo Zeros are end game desktop speakers for me. They sound at least twice their size. For the size and price, they can't be beat. Won't need a sub as much either, if at all, even if I'll play around with mine before likely selling it like my A2's... The stereo imaging from the Zeros is even better than my $2000 Kef floorstander and Denon living room system. I did enjoy my 1st gen A2's for the years I used them, but off to a new home they go now.
