Hey, can anyone confirm if plugging such a cable into A2+'s RCAs would let me use headphones with them?

I think it's unlikely. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that those RCAs on the back are either gonna be input or they're gonna be unamplified output to the amplified sub...

Might work, might not, might be very quiet, might sound bad. Audioengine's specs page calls the output a "variable line-out," which sounds like it's intended for line-level inputs, even though it's controlled by the same volume control as the speakers. It would be like hooking up an inline volume control to a line-out.
Besides, using that output wouldn't turn the speakers off, so what's the point?
