How is this better than the Esinkin Bluetooth adapter I bought on Amazon for $20? What makes it worth $170 more?

lkibblerthe audioengine b1 is from a more legit audio company, you can actually see which dac it is using and it can likely handle higher resolution files. is that worth $170 more? doubt it. maybe $50? thats all objective so who knows. if you like how the $20 sounds just fine and it operates just fine then i'd say the B1 is worth $0 more to you. things dont have to be fancy or expensive to be enjoyable, especially with audio where everyone hears everything differently!

radpoodleI had no idea we were talkng about dacs. But, since it is going in digitally and coming out as an analog signal, you would be correct. Thank you for pointing that out. If you use a blutooth receiver that has a digital output then I guess you can use your own external dac in the stream, right?

lkibblertheoretically, yes. as long as one of the devices doesnt have something weird going on to stop that. depending on your budget, if you need a more feature packed streamer this one is supposed to be pretty good for the price. on sale for the next hour only $80 https://www.amazon.com/WiiM-Mini-Multiroom-Preamplifier-Assistants/dp/B09HC5GRKY/ref=sr_1_4? sort of depends on your needs really, if you really need optical out or not or really want a diff dac. my opinion is this b1 is way overpriced for what you get though. its old, only bt 5.0 when 5.3 is now out and still very high for its features. id at least find something with bt 5.2 as it can do much longer distances and higher data rates than 5.0. 5.3 is a smaller increase from 5.2 though, so prob not worth waiting for more devices. as far as i know at least... tons of options at diff price points on amazon or newegg if you really need an opti/digital out.

radpoodleThanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with me on this topic. I do have and quite like the Wiim mini. I have its optical output hooked up to the optical input on a Topping DX3 Pro+. I use this to listen to headphones at my desk. I use the cheap Bluetooth receiver to send audio from my laptop to some powered desktop speakers for general use but not much for music

lkibblerahh, nice! ive been considering getting the wiim but realized my old fiio btr5 works well enough for my occasional need to run music to my main stereo receiver from my phone. one of these days looking into a whole home streaming solution, but for the occasional need the fiio works.
