Anyone know if this dac/amp would pair well with the SoundMagic HP100? I am a total n00b at this and I am quite not sure if the impedance would be a problem since the HP100 are at 32 ohms. Thx for the help!

Jean-PascalIt'll work. The D1 can drive headphones that are between 20 and 300ohms. I use it with the 63ohm Sony MDR-7506 and it works great. Basically, it'll work with any headphones you have unless you go out of your way to purchase very high impedance or very low impedance headphones.

Charles@Charles @Jean-Pascal @nilayk @last_sd @Ka
As @Ka mentioned, Audioengine's own specs on the D1 rate the 3.5mm jack at a 10ohm output impedance -- the common rule of thumb is that the rated HP impedance should be a bare minimum 8 times the output impedance (according to some, 10 times or greater). See Sec.2 of Tyll's DT880 Trio article for some helpful analogies/explanation:
http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/comparison-beyerdynamic-dt-880-32-ohm-dt-880-250-ohm-and-dt-880-600-ohm-headphones
By that reasoning, the lowest HP impedance for pairing with that 3.5mm jack should be 80-100ohms (e.g. Beyerdynamic DT 1350). Don't know what that FAQ question/answer is doing there -- seems to try to skirt the issue by distracting with the opamp specs.
