Hifiman HE-500 are orthodynamic headphones and from what I've read, output impedance and damping factor do not matter with these.

MingThey're 'planar magnetic', but point taken on the partial exception. The lower damping factor does still matter in some cases, however. <br /><br />The important point was that /dynamic/ low-impedance headphones -- like the 32ohm Soundmagic HP100s @Jean-Pascal was asking about -- would be a poor fit for the D1.
