Great. Thanks Adama for setting me straight. I guess it's not too big a deal to unplug or switch off the speakers when I need to use the headphones.

I can't really compare my headphones with my speakers, partly because my headphones are nothing special, just a serviceable pair of Sennheisers (HD 407). I think there is some difference, though maybe not quite so much.

What really surprised me about the speakers was that I seemed to be hearing so much more, especially in the quieter passages. Other people have spoken about "warmer" vocals. I'm no audiophile, so I cannot really comment on that. All I can say is that the listening experience is just more comfortable, more interesting and fuller.

I hope that helps.

@JeremyCherfas
I use a "remote control outlet switch" to turn my KRK's on and off. The remote is attached to the underside of my desk top using double sided tape ;)
Possibly not the cleanest power delivery but I'll likely never notice the difference.

Neat idea! I've never actually seen those here -- I'm in Italy -- but it might be worth looking.
