Wow was still on the fence with some days left. It's probably for the better though as I really wanted an OPTICAL in. Anyone know of a comparable quality/ price product with usb and optical?

monkifiedYou could try the Fiio E17. Goes up to 192/24 on optical (toslink). Keep in mind that the E17 isn't a tube dac/amp. Its a little device but it is pretty good.

I have no idea why the E17 is so highly regarded. I had two of them and I sold one to a friend and gave the other as a gift. Compared to the T1 the only thing the E17 had for me was the EQ adjustments. Everything else related to sound quality was completely inferior to my ears. Overall it wasn't nearly as clear, separated or musical. It sounded very veiled and lifeless. That's just my experience though and I suppose I could have had a bad unit or something.

AdamaI would just say to remember that the E17 is portable, which this is not. I haven't heard it for extended periods of time so I can't comment on its sound, but that is something to consider. Also for someone who is looking for just a tube AMP, look at Garage 1217

AdamaHmm, well, I'll have to test that out once I get my T1, since I bought it to replace the E17 since I found I was getting 'bored' of the sound. Still the E17 is decent for its price

GCSMYeah I don't mean to disparage the E17. It's a great unit for being what it is. Being so portable and affordable while being quite flexible. I also switched to the T1 because I don't listen on the go. I'm usually at my desk so the T1 made more sense from that angle as well.
