Well, I was under the assumption a preamp would do the trick, but alas, I am still having difficulties.
What is wrong with this setup? I am connecting with RCA cables: Uturn Orbit Plus > Microphono pp400 > Aune T1 Mk2 > Kanto Yu5 speakers
I get no sound at all. I have verified the Aune works with headphones by hooking up my phone as a source via RCA, and I know my preamp works, as my old setup is the same as above but without the Aune. Any suggestions on troubleshooting or am I not doing this correctly?

The Aune will do nothing for your speakers in this setup. The phono stage is already delivering a "pre" signal which will work with your speakers. The only thing the Aune will allow you to do in this case with an RCA input is to listen to it via the headphone amp in the T1 (which does not use the tube buffer). The RCA output on the T1 will carry the same signal through to your speakers, as if you were just going from the phono stage to the speakers.
My advice to you is to switch the Aune to the "line" input which is the RCA input, then you can listen via headphones without the tube, or simply remove the Aune from your chain if you're just using speakers. (It is literally just passing the signal through via RCA).
The Aune T1 USB input uses the tube, since it's a tube-buffered DAC. If you connect USB into the T1, switch back to "usb" and then you can listen via the RCA output to your speakers, or via the headphone amp on the T1.
Make sense?

Yes, indeed. Thanks for the explanation, that's exactly how I thought it was all supposed to work.
The initial unit was defective, and has been replaced by Massdrop. I assumed the RCA outs on the T1 were just a passthrough, and the original unit was not doing that, and additionally, I was getting a very weak signal on the headphones even at full volume. My setup is working now, and I am pleased with the new amp.
