My tube won't seat deep enough for the tube protectors to clip in. Which would be ok I guess, except every couple minutes I get 10-15 sec of low volume digital bleep bloop sounding noise. :( Do I have a lemon? Is this poor quality control? How do I get this fixed?

The noise happens with both the USB and line in imputs.

Try using it without the tube and see if you get the same thing happening?

I revived mine this week as well. I came close to having the same problem you had. Seating the tube was a bit nerve-racking, I had to press down firmly enough that it made me uncomfortable.
The Aune T1 is my first piece of tube equipment, so I do not know if this is normal.

My Darkvoice amp arrived today, the tubes are much easier to seat on that compared to the aune.

Is the darkhouse significantly better than the aune?

The Darkvoice is purely a tube amp, while the Aune is a tube DAC & solid state amp. If you connect the Aune T1 to the Darkvoice 336 you get a tube amp + dac at a relatively inexpensive price.
This is the video that inspired me to purchase both https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do8Ar2O4r8E
If you already have the Aune you don't need to run out and buy both, but should consider getting a Darkvoice (or similar tube amp) as an upgrade.

I pushed more firmly, like you said, feeling a little uncomfortable, and it did fully seat. I noticed no difference in the tickity/bleepity/bloopity sound that goes fairly regularly for 10-15 seconds. it seems louder in the left ear.

Jackula, yes, it still happens without the tube. i initially thought maybe the tube needed burn in time, but this is still happening and annoying me 7w later. :( No one else has this issue? Do I have a lemon?

It does sound like it, I haven't heard of anything quite like what you're describing, but it sounds like some fault in the digital stage of the unit. Also make sure your computer isn't generating the sound, download WASAPI plug in for Foobar and use WASAPI (event) output mode, it will make sure only audio is passed to your Aune and will not let any system sound through.

@Jackula i get the sound with both the usb and line imputs, with the usb cable removed as well.
btw, for those expecting any support from Massdrop in the Discussions, forget about it. I finally got tired of waiting for any official response and found the separate support page, where they told me that since I purchased more than 30 days ago I'm on my own. I'm going to be extremely hesitant to purchase any more stuff, especially pricier stuff, from Massdrop in the future.

Follow up: after being alerted that I had been trying to get help here, Massdrop is now helping me with a replacement unit. Thanks!
