The Aurora 88 black demonstrator is a revival of a legendary 1950s design: the first pen to be exhibited at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, Italy. Made in a limited edition of 1,888 pieces worldwide, this fountain pen pairs a clear body with matte black trim, and the matte black coating on the solid 18-karat-gold nib is unique among Aurora’s lineup. To get you writing right away, this piston filler comes with a bottle of Aurora’s famous ink—fittingly, also in black.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of nib size: extra-fine, or oblique fine (+ $100).
Italian for “dawn,” Aurora was founded in Turin at the end of the First World War. Indeed, it was the dawn of a new era for battle-weary Italy. That was 1919. Today, the company still occupies the factory it was founded in. And while much has changed over the last 100 years, the quality of Aurora’s pens has not.
