When I turn on the black-light the white light also glows. Is this normal? They both should illuminate in this mode?

What's causing this drop's delay? When is it supposed to ship?

Even with the 'discount' offered by Drop, my order would be about the same price compare to Rovyvon's website when you add in shipping. Might as well order directly from the website and save myself 3 weeks worth of waiting. Drop, you can do better than this. Shipping to Australia shouldn't cost 1/4-1/2 of the price of the item.

I have a red aluminum A3 that has been on my keychain for a couple of years now; it has been a sturdy performer and I rely on it often for emergency light: to recover things beneath the seat of a rental car in an underground parking, to find a friend's fallen earring at night in the park, or even to light my way in a poorly lighted street at night in the winter (when you have painfully slipped on the sidewalk due to a patch of black ice once, you subsequently remember to take the flashlight out during the winter walks!). Plus, I love the fact that with the Nichia LED, you get a natural light, without that ugly blue hue often present on cheaper LEDs. My A3 does not have side lights, honestly I don't know if that would be much use to me. Besides scratches and nicks, there is no damage to the body, and the glass part has been well protected due to being slightly recessed. I assume this A8 will perform as well; if anything, the "frosted" plastic will hide cosmetic scratches and nicks even better. The light has never turned on accidentally on my keychain; I love the fact that if you click and hold the rubber button, the flashlight will produce a burst of light at the highest intensity, and will stop as soon as you take your finger off the button - very practical to have a look at something quickly! For sustained illumination, double clicking the button will give you light at the lowest intensity, and clicking subsequently will cycle between the three intensity levels and the flashing mode (which in my opinion and for my usage, is useless unless I would put this on a bicycle or something). The highest intensity is surprisingly powerful and blinding; it drains the battery quickly and warms the flashlight noticeably (about fifteen to perhaps thirty minutes of uninterrupted usage? Never tried it that way to be honest), but I find myself using the other lower intensities when I need sustained light... The highest intensity is mostly good for that "burst" mode I wrote earlier about. The A3 flashlight will charge in about an hour or less; it has a red/blue indicator beneath its button, you easily know when it's charging or finished doing so. In normal usage, I don't normally need to charge it for weeks at a time; I assume this A8 will be performing similarly since they both the A3 and A8 have a "130mAh lithium polymer battery". Based on my excellent experience with the A3, I can only recommend this A8 heartily; RovyVon's flashlight are well designed, details have been thought through, fit and finish are exemplary (the red aluminum of my A3 is gorgeous!) - in all senses of the word, these are premium products!

I'd like this one but I'd have to buy the two versions to disassemble and assemble in one. UV, Red and Amber would be perfect. Alas, this one's in the need for a serious mod. Major surgery!

What’s the life span of the rechargeable battery? How long would it last before being unable to hold a charge?

Man, I really want this light. Perfect EDC size for me, just struggling with my rule to only buy USB type C devices from now on. Also wish it had GITD especially with the UV light option, but that's a just a nitpick

This is a great little light with one issue. It has PWM on all levels but high. It is noticeable on the lower levels if it’s aimed at something moving.

Ah, very interesting to know! That means - contrary to what I naively assumed - the internals are not the same. May I ask, when, in your usage, you notice the PWM?

Bobrazi first noticed it on low at night when I was trying to find a water leak. The flow was strobed. I’ll admit I’m sensitive to it and have to set my monitor refresh high but now that I know it’s there I notice it more unfortunately.

Well, another drop with perfect timing, as I just watched Nick Shabazz’s review of this “interesting little flashlight right here”. Ha. I respect his opinion and value his analysis of knives, despite sometimes disagreeing with him. So the same goes for flashlights. So I’m already considering this, but before I do, anybody have any experience with these that wouldn’t mind maybe “shedding a little light” on it? See what I did there...? Wink wink, nudge nudge. Ha. Also, I’m not a big flashlight guy, so what’s really the difference between the two models in layman’s terms? Advantages/disadvantages of each? Any help and feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can super charge glow in the dark things with it. You can see dirt, chemicals, and human fluids on cloth, carpet, and beds - nice to precheck hotel rooms upon check in. You can see UV watermarks - some documents, ID cards, and paper currency have these. You can activate UV reactive lenses in glasses.

bass7lbI'm not sure I'm eager to see human fluids! Sometimes ignorance is bliss! That being said I stay mostly at Hilton (I travel for work) so at least they have a higher standard.
