It amazes me that Massdrop is still marketing this problematic dash cam to its faithful followers. Again my unit only worked for no more than two months and started buffering intermittently whenever it wants to. Now it spends 50% of the time buffering which means no recording. Tried different SD cards but didn't help. Contacted Massdrop and found out Massdrop warranty is only good for 30 days, after that you are on your own and need to contacting the manufacturer in China. It is pathetic that Massdrop customer service wouldn't even offer any contact information on how to contact them. Buyer beware!!!!
This product serves as a very good example as to why Massdrop needs to have some semblance of standards when it comes to available drops. In this case, they're offering a universally despised dash cam that simply does not work as advertised, and (maybe more importantly) it continues to be offered.
I bought this cam long time ago and it failed to work after the 30 warranty period by Massdrop. I contacted Massdrop and was told that I have to contact the manufacturer and Massdrop didn't even provide any contact information. This cam would go into a buffering mode and stop recording anytime it wants to, especially when it is warm inside the car. The suction cup failed a number of times causing minor damages to car interior. I am not happy with being left in the cold by Massdrop, this dash cam is a pain in the butt and is definitely a waste of money. I wonder why Massdrop is still marketing this defective products after so many complaints?
I used only quality micro sd cards such as Samsung and Sandisk. I also tried different cards and got the same results.
The unit worked without issues for the first couple months therefore it is unlikely caused by SD cards compatibility.
It also seems that other users experienced the same issue.
ac3698The SD card performance degrade by writes. Sandisk they have so called "High Endurance" brand for dash cam which seems using MLC. As for Samsung,I believe they all using TLC.
Well. It could also be the dash cam issue.Good luck to you.
Terrible, TERRIBLE cam. Very unreliable. Constantly buffering, for something that should be setup once and left alone until needed (i.e after an accident) this thing is critically/fundamentally flawed. I bought this because I live in an apartment complex, hoping that the parking monitor worked, it doesn't. The only time it's ever kicked on, is after I've slammed my door (Note: regular door closing doesn't turn it on, and I have it set to high sensitivity). I don't remember how much I paid, it was far too much.
The screen on the back is neat. 100% useless device.
MacemoreI also forgot to mention, after having it successfully mounted for about a week, the unit fell, after which it never clung back onto my window. I've cleaned both the window and the cup multiple times according to multiple suction cup guides (this isn't an issue exclusive to the Ausdom) to no avail. After it fell, the nut that holds the bolt that keeps the camera on the suction cup fell off. I can hear the nut rolling around where my defrost comes out.
Do not buy this unreliable dash cam, read my comments above. This dash cam could work fine for the first little while and then start buffering off & on and stop recording. Your don't know when this is going to happen but it happens very often and whenever it wants to or when just when you need it!!!
This dash cam has a 30 days manufacturer warranty and if anything goes wrong after 30 days you are out of luck because Massdrop would not help you. Massdrop will ask you to contact the manufacturer and they won't even give you any contact information. See below my reply from Massdrop:

Hello Anthony,
Thank you for contacting Massdrop Community Support! I am sorry about the issues you have been having with your dash camera and I will do what I can to help.
For products that do not have an included manufacturer's warranty, members have 30 days from the date of delivery to report an issue. For products that include a manufacturer's warranty, members must report an issue within the stated warranty period.
After reviewing your transaction, it appears that the time-frame for reporting an issue has passed, which means we are not able to provide a replacement or facilitate a return. We encourage you to try and reach out to the manufacturer to see if they are able to assist you with a replacement.
Thank you for your understanding of this policy. If we can help you with anything else in the future, please contact us.
Warm Regards,
Summer
ac3698this is precisely why i no longer purchase items that have even a small chance of warranty issues. ive also had a bad experience with this site's 'customer service'. i do enjoy the community here, and the site does offer great deals on solid products quite often. but when it comes to stuff like this.... ill pay the extra dollar to get it now and have the security of being taken care of in case it does quit on me.
FatStaxYup, for anything electronic or mechanical that could break down, 30 days warranty is a joke and Massdrop didn't even offer to help customers in contacting the manufacturer. They should attach a "Thank you" and "Good Luck" note with each purchased and emphasize on the "Good Luck" part.
