Oooh, Austrian Audio is getting into gaming headsets? I’d like to test them!
Some things are curious from the listing. A stiff membrane I believe is helpful for reducing distortion and increasing clarity (as long as it’s pistonic motion is a nice linear up/down rather than having any wobble), but I thought high excursion = more air displacement from a certain surface area = louder bass amplitude potential. I’m also not sure if it actually has an omnidirectional microphone… for a gaming boom microphone, I certainly would want a unidirectional mic which picks up my voice but not my PC case fans.
But personally, I like that it’s an analog headphone, keeping it simple. With no DSP, no ANC, no cheap USB dongle, and apparently no volume dial, then the headphone will be much more durable and I can choose if I want to use cheap crap or a really nice USB/PCI gaming audio solution, and there’s no volume dial potentiometer to throw off channel balance and eventually cause scratchy distortion, signal disconnects, and eventual failure to work at all.
The final proof is, of course, in the tonal balance and technical performance. Austrian Audio is a decent audiophile company rather than a cash-grab gamer brand that slaps their name on top of something OEM, so I think there’s good potential here.
Just so everyone is aware - this is wired only, no active noise-cancellation (ANC), and no volume controls either. Also, the accompanying software is Windows only.

IMHO, not worth the premium it demands.
hoodafukisaliceYour comment is confusing, as I don't see any claims of ANC in the description or included software. The price is also reasonable at $80 for a gaming headset, but the lack of volume controls is odd. They should have at least included inline volume controls.
