I purchased one on a previous drop more than a year ago. I found it to be a bit of a hassle to be useful. Yes, it will track your drives as long as your bluetooth connection works properly, but then what about the data afterwards? Its really up to you to figure out how you want to handle the data. You could use IFTTT and put them on a google spread sheet. Then go and further break down / extract the data you need. For me, I'm a consultant, so I need to track miles for tax purposes. Therefore, the less work the better. I already have so many other expenses to keep track of, if I can eliminate just one step, it's significant for me. Therefore, I found Automatic just not powerful enough on the software front. My Automatic unit hasn't been used in over a year. Granted, a lot could have changed on the software front on Automatic's part, but I have been so underwhelmed with my experience with the product that I just don't even care to bother myself to check and see what new developments may have happened.
What do I use instead? My iphone and an app called MileageIQ. Runs in the background, no significant drain on battery, easy (brainless/effortless) to use. For heavy users it's a $5 a month subscription, but whatever, the ease of use is well worth the price of entry. Also, don't need multiple ones for multiple cars.
Just IMHO.
