I have a question. Does the same device plug into any car or when you purchase it do you have to get one for your specific car model? Let's say I get into a car accident and I need to buy a new car. I don't want my automatic device to be worthless because it doesn't fit the port of my new car.

Andrew_CortesiSo long as you have a vehicle made in or past 1996, this device will interface just fine with your OBDSII port. It's the same device type that your mechanic uses to figure out what codes your engine is throwing. However... be wary that they process your data on the cloud. This is usually a means of getting around laws regulating what they can and can not do with your information, and when it is passed over to a third party vendor, good luck tracking it / stopping it's spread. You are being charged for a product as well as having YOUR LOCATION AND DRIVING HABITS SOLD OFF. This is also the same exact price on other sites, these orders take a long time to ship, and you can buy one that will tell you the diagnostic information alone for far cheaper. You would be wise to pass on this.
