AVI-8 watches pay tribute to one of the most technically trying feats of ingenuity man has ever pulled off: the art of flight. The Lancaster Bomber automatic is an homage to the four-engined British bomber of the same name used extensively throughout World War II. Look to the bulbous date window at 6 (symbolic of its bubble-like turrets) and the 24-hour subdial at 10 (and its three-pronged rutter) and you’ll see the influence of the Lancaster right away. Large easy-to-read Arabic numerals line the dial for visibility. Backed by Seiko NH37 movement, the watch will tick for 41 hours on a full charge. The case is built like a bomber, too: Made from stainless steel with a mineral crystal, it’s ready for physical encounters on land or in the air. Another aviation-related tie-in is the tip of the seconds hand, which also looks like a plane.
